It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of BBC Radio 1 and their Live Lounge sessions. They take the top artists of the moment and give them a new / old / classic / fun song to cover. The results are always interesting and sometimes better than the original.
It spawned some of favourite covers, including Kygo and Parson’ James spin on Tove Lo’s ‘Habits’, The Maccabees, take on ‘Lean On’ by Major Lazer, James Bay’s spin on Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s ‘Four Five Seconds’ and Ed Sheeran with an old classic by Christina Aguilera, with ‘Dirrty’.
Rock band Wolf Alice recently took to the Live Lounge to cover one of my favourites, ‘Desire’ by Years and Years. The result was a stripped down, rock styled, haunting and ethereal take on the electro and synth packed original.
I can’t wait to hear more from Wolf Alice.
