Who: The Greenhouse at Babylonstoren.
Why: Amazing setting and fantastic food.
Babylonstoren is one of my favourite places to go in the Stellenbosch/Franschhoek area. I love the Cape Dutch farm with its magical gardens surrounded by the Drakensten Valley mountains.
I recently visited and took a long walk around the amazing gardens while waiting for a table, as the Greenhouse was full. Before we knew it, half an hour had passed and we slowly headed back to our now waiting table under the oak trees.
The Greenhouse offers, fresh, rustic food, with some ingredients that have been cultivated from the garden. The bread is from the old wood-fired oven. Knowing that I decided to go for one of the sandwich options and was happy to see they had the loveliest selection of toppings including some crafted cheeses.
Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to try their freshly baked scones with home-made strawberry preserve or their summery garden-flavoured popsicles. They looked fantastic and next time I will definitely head there for tea. Can’t wait to go back!
